Economist and Fair Observer

Hello my friend,

 
This is my occasional update to show I'm thinking about you, even though I write only about me.
 
First thing first, please read my latest article in The Economist. It expounds upon what I told you last time about Fair Observer. The editors in Which MBA give me more and more freedom to write about what I please, which I take as evidence that my writing has progressed during my recent re-immersion. And if it seems like I'm timing these updates around my latest articles, that's because I am; if I'm to parlay this blog into a full time gig with The Economist, it behooves me to have a well-read blog.  
 
Last week we made some real progress at Fair Observer. We agreed to open print distribution with a company called Slimbooks. We finished our press kit for an east coast road trip that the co-founders are taking. And we were turned down by two more investors! I now have two direct reports inside the house now and I enjoy sending them off on miscellaneous wild goose chases.
 
I just bought a Kindle if anyone has reading suggestions. Lately, I am reading James Salter short stories.

2023/2024: productive years

2023 and 2024 were productive years. To start, we bought a home and obtained permanent residence in Spain. We now live in an urbanization with a pool, near public transit and schools. It was hard to leave the center of Alicante which played host to important memories when Adrián was a baby, but we traded up. Our second child, Claudia, was born in September 2024. Adrián (now 4) started full-time preschool in the fall of 2023 and adapted well despite being one of the youngest in his class. He's an inquisitive boy who believes Peppa Pig accompanies him on his adventures and who is very much oblivious to everything outside his imagination. He enjoys popsicles, new toys, trampolines, and slides. He is developing a sense of humor and has an infectious laugh. Happy 40th birthday, Sarah!

Sarah recently turned 40. We celebrated with a bouncy house and enormous paella, as the Spanish do. Ahead of the occasion, Sarah's friends submitted tribute videos wishing her well. I compiled these into a  highlight reel . The project highlighted the impact Sarah makes on people and the affection her friends and family have for her, often despite time and distance. Celebrating sunny days and our wonderful son

It's been years since my last update much has changed. Sarah and I met in 2015, married in Seattle in 2018, relocated to Spain the next year, and welcomed baby Adrián in late 2020.  More on Sarah and Andrew: Photos of our courtship and wedding Video slideshow that played at our wedding (Password: July 14) We're quite smitten with our soon-to-be-toddler. He is inquisitive, cheery, and eminently huggable. He likes putting things in jars and taking them out, pointing at dogs on the street, eating fruit, napping with his parents, and going down the slide headfirst at the playground. We have done a couple photo shoots with young Adrián.
